  • 2026-10-10 Get Started Free on the homepage now opens sign-up when you are not signed in, and your dashboard when you are.
  • 2026-10-10 The email confirmation link now lands on your dashboard, signed in, instead of the sign-in screen.
  • 2026-10-10 Signing in with your email and password now returns you to the requested page, for example Pricing.
  • 2026-10-10 Signing up with an email that already has an account now says so and offers Sign in, instead of asking you to wait for an email that never arrives.
  • 2026-10-10 Passwords need at least 8 characters on sign-up and password reset, the same as Change Password. Links to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy now sit under Create Account.
  • 2026-10-10 New Start here card on an empty Dashboard and at the top of Settings: set your home currency, then add your first transaction or import transactions from a CSV. Dismiss it once and it stays away.
  • 2026-10-10 Empty Dashboard panels now say what is missing for this month and offer the one action that fills them. Envelope Rollover in Settings stays out of the way until you have envelopes.
  • 2026-10-10 Settings: the mid-page Back to Dashboard divider is gone, and the browser tab now reads Settings.
  • 2026-10-10 The 90-second tour no longer opens by itself on first sign-in. The Demo button still opens it while a new recording is made.
  • 2026-10-10 New Privacy Policy describing where your data lives and which services handle it.
  • 2026-10-10 Removed two Settings switches, Local-Only Mode and Auto-Delete Data, that did nothing.

  • 2026-06-03 New premium template, the Mindful Spending Journal: log every purchase with how you felt and whether it was worth it, then watch your regret rate, worth-it score, and spending-by-mood patterns appear. The kind of insight a bank-linked app cannot give you.
  • 2026-06-03 Every generated sheet now opens on a clean Read Me page: a colour key showing exactly which cells to type into, plain-English guidance on the protected formula cells, and a one-click Clear Sample Data menu.
  • 2026-06-03 A live build animation while your template generates, so you watch the sheet come together instead of waiting on a blank screen.
  • 2026-06-01 In-app product tour: a Demo button under Dashboard on every screen opens the 90-second walkthrough, with a one-time welcome the first time you sign in. The automatic welcome is paused from 10 October 2026; the Demo button still opens the tour.
  • 2026-06-01 Every Google Sheets template is now break-proof: the cells you fill in are cream, the formulas are protected so a stray keystroke cannot wreck them, and a BudgetBits menu clears the sample data in one click.
  • 2026-05-25 Download everything as a single JSON file from the Exports page: a complete, machine-readable snapshot of your account for real data portability.
  • 2026-05-25 Self-serve data controls: delete or export your data straight from Settings, plus a clearer note on the homepage about when the founder can access data.

  • One-click bank statement upload: drop a PDF or image, an AI provider extracts the transactions, you review and commit. Reduces friction without ever connecting to your bank. We would choose a provider with no-training and no-storage guarantees; small softening of the no-third-party promise, transparent trade-off.
  • Local on-device statement extraction: same one-click upload, but the AI model runs entirely in your browser. Image never leaves your laptop. Privacy property stays pristine. Longer-horizon work.

What BudgetBits will not build, written publicly so you can hold us accountable.

  • Auto-connect to your bank. No Plaid. No read-access to your credentials. No exceptions.
  • Sell your data. Not to marketers, not to fintech aggregators, not to "research partners."
  • Dark patterns. No countdown timers, no pre-checked upgrade boxes, no guilt-funnel cancellation flows.
  • AI-generated financial advice without a human-in-the-loop disclaimer.
  • Bait-and-switch pricing on existing customers.
